'Govt making efforts to introduce electronic voting in next general elections'
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz says the PTI government has been making efforts to introduce electronic voting system in the next general elections to ensure transparency and impartiality in elections.
He was briefing media persons on decisions taken in the federal cabinet meeting held in Islamabad Wednesday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.
The Minister said the government wants that Overseas Pakistanis also take part in the next electoral process and cast votes. He said Overseas Pakistanis have an important role in economic progress of the country.
He said the Prime Minister emphasized on ensuring transparency in elections so that everyone has confidence over the electoral process and no one could raise objections over it.
Shibli Faraz said the PTI's efforts for the upcoming Senate elections are aimed at ensuring transparency in the process. He said people have also come to know the elements who want use of money in the Senate elections.
The Minister said the Prime Minister issued directives for the departments concerned to take effective steps for checking incidents of rape and sexual assault against women and children. He said the Prime Minister expressed concern that such incidents have not substantially decreased.
Shibli Faraz said the recently passed Inheritance Bill has made the process of acquiring succession certificates easy for legal heirs. NNI
