PTI withdraws Senate ticket from Abdul Qadir
QUETTA: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central parliamentary board has withdrawn its ticket awarded to business tycoon Abdul Qadir for the Senate election in Balochistan after protests.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations, Dr Shehbaz Gill said on Twitter that the Senate ticket from Balochistan has been withdrawn from Abdul Qadir.
It may be recalled that differences had started within the party after the PTI had given a Senate ticket to Abdul Qadir. The PTI had issued a ticket to Abdul Qadir for the general seat and the names were approved by the Prime Minister himself, after which it was announced today.
Opposing the award of party ticket to Abdul Qadir, PTI’s provincial leadership argued that he did not belong to the PTI as he had been a member of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) till last week.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced its candidates for the Senate elections.
A meeting of the PTI Parliamentary Board was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister in which the candidates for the Senate elections were finalized and the final names were announced after the approval of the Prime Minister. The PTI has nominated Saifullah Niazi, Ejaz Chaudhry, Aun Abbas, Ali Zafar and Dr Zarqa from Punjab for the Senate elections.
