Today, Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar announced that the Punjab government has done all the preparations to initiate a coronavirus vaccination program in the province.

Buzdar took to Twitter and shared this good news with the public, he wrote:

We have completed preparations for COVID-19 vaccination in Punjab. Training of 637 staff members has been completed in 189 hospitals in all districts.

Explaining further the provincial government's strategy to vaccinate the population in phases, he told that initially health workers will be vaccinated followed by the elderly. CM Buzdar tweeted:

In the first phase, 300,000 health workers have been registered for vaccination. This will be followed by vaccination for the elderly over 65 years of age.

Punjab, the most populous province of the country has reported over 150,000 coronavirus cases so far. Also, at least 4,460 Punjabis have been reported to succumb to the viral disease.
