Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar has on Monday announced to make Broadsheet document public.

While addressing a presser, Shahzad Akbar said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to make Broadsheet documents public.

“Accountability is not possible without transparency. Pakistan received an email from Broadsheet. We have contacted few lawyers to make the document public,” he said.

The adviser further stated that former premier Nawaz Sharif left the country after making a deal with then president General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf.

“The country suffered the consequences in the form of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in the form of fine,” he said.

Shahzad Akbar further stated that the contract between the anti-corruption watchdog and Broadsheet was signed in June, 2000 while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo went abroad in December, 2000.

“The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ended the contract in 2003 and paid $1.5million after settlement on May 20, 2008. An appeal was filed in high court in July 2019 but the decision came in favour of Broadsheet,” he said.
