It has been three days since Punjab last reported any COVID-19 death.

The novel coronavirus infection has ravaged the whole global community and Pakistan is no exception. But the good news is that the viral infection is finally being contained effectively in the country and a lower number of newly reported cases and COVID-related deaths are a testament to this fact.

Punjab, the province home to more than half of the population of Pakistan, has made an impressive recovery in its battle against COVID-19. In the past 24 hours, only 121 new cases have been reported in the province taking the total number of cases to 96,178.

The fatalities due to the coronavirus in Pakistan are reducing every day. In the last 24 hours, 9 people succumbed to the viral disease in the country. Out of these 9 deaths, none occurred in Punjab. In fact, for the past three days, not even a single coronavirus death has been reported in Punjab. Let us just hope it stays this way.

As of today, Punjab's coronavirus death toll is 2,188 and on the whole, Pakistan's death toll stands at 6,244.
