Corruption probe: KP assembly speaker faces possible removal over irregularities
An investigation has been initiated against the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati. The provincial assembly speaker has submitted a response to the Internal Accountability Committee.
Sources state that if the corruption allegations are proven, the speaker may be removed from his position. If found guilty, the party will ask the speaker to step down from his role.
According to sources, if the speaker refuses to resign, a motion of no-confidence could be brought against him. If he is proven innocent, the task of mediating reconciliation between the speaker and Azam Swati has been assigned to the Chief Minister.
According to sources, if the irregularities are proven, the Speaker will be given time to rectify them and reverse any wrongful decisions.
