Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has said that the number of COVID-19 patients is decreasing in the province.

The number of newly reported cases in the most populous province of Pakistan has been consistently below 1,000 for the past few days. To date, Punjab has 87,492 total covid cases with 2,026 covid-related fatalities. But the good news is that 63,977 people have already recovered from the disease in the province.

Addressing a press conference in Attock today, Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that due to the hard work of our doctors, we are witnessing a steady decline in the number of COVID-19 patients. She said the number of people defeating the virus and recovering from the disease is higher than the number of new infections.

The number of coronavirus patients has been declining in all areas of Pakistan. It's believed that we are past the peak of our first wave of COVID-19. As of today, Pakistan has 253,604 total novel coronavirus patients with 1,979 people testing positive in the past 24 hours. It is the first time that less than 2,000 new cases are reported in a single day, since May 27.

The number of people who have succumbed to COVID-19 in our country is 5,320 with 54 people dying in the last 24 hours. 170,656 people have recovered from the viral infection while there are still 77,628 active cases in Pakistan of which 2,151 are critical.
