Global coronavirus cases surge to 13 million, death toll reaches 575,545
The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 13,238,121 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 575,545 lives. According to latest data, 7,698,371 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.
The United States tops with nearly 3,479,483 cases and more than 138,247 deaths followed by Brazil with over 1,887,959 cases and more than 72,921 deaths.
India has reported 907,645 cases while 23,727 deaths due to the coronavirus.
Over 733,699 people have infected while 11,439 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
Peru has reported 330,123 cases while 12,054 deaths.
In Chile, nearly 317,657 cases were confirmed, including more than 7,024 deaths.
Spain has recorded 28,406 fatalities and 303,033 infections.
Mexico has reported 35,006 deaths and 299,750 cases.
United Kingdom has reported 44,830 fatalities and 290,133 infections.
South Africa has reported 4,172 deaths while over 287,796 people have been tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 13,032 in Iran as confirmed number of cases is almost 259,652.
Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 34,967 fatalities, while 242,827 infections.
Saudi Arabia has reported 235,111 cases of coronavirus, while 2,243 coronavirus deaths have been reported.
Turkey reported 214,001 coronavirus cases and 5,382 fatalities.
Germany has reported 9,139 deaths and 200,436 infections.
France has reported 30,029 deaths and 172,377 cases.
Canada reported 8,790 fatalities and 108,155 infections due to coronavirus.
China -- excluding Hong Kong and Macau -- has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,605 cases, with 78,674 recoveries.
In Belgium, 9,782 people succumbed to the disease while reported 62,707 cases due to the coronavirus.
Kuwait has reported 393 deaths while over 55,508 people have been tested positive for the virus.
Israel has reported 40,632 coronavirus cases while 365 deaths.
Taiwan has reported 451 cases and 7 deaths while 438 patients have already been recovred. Taiwan was one of the countries that managed to control the epidemic caused by the coronavirus with timely measures and border closures.
In addition, the government has issued instructions to citizens not to travel abroad unnecessarily.
