The Pakistani-American doctor who has found quite a fame in Twitter world in this pandemic as people are hungry for authentic and latest developing news regarding this new viral disease. He gave the following reasons as to why he believes we've still got a long way to go in the war against novel coronavirus:

  • The number of COVID-19 has already passed 6 million. (Currently, the tally stands at 10 million-plus.)
  • Vaccine availability is still 1 year away.
  • Vaccine distribution will further take at least 1 year.
  • Still a long way to go in acquiring herd immunity.
  • The political will to thwart the virus is decreasing.
  • Coronavirus is spreading at an alarming rate. (One million new cases are being reported every week now!)

According to Dr. Younus 2 years is the "best-case scenario", assuming that vaccines will be prepared in the next 12 months and distributed globally efficiently. The infectious disease expert asked people to plan their lives accordingly as we have to learn to live with COVID-19.
