Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid has said that several areas of Lahore are going to be sealed for 15 days, as coronavirus cases surge in the provincial capital.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore on Monday, Yasmin Rashid termed Lahore as the epicenter of coronavirus.

She added that government has decided to impose lockdown in several areas of the provincial capital in wake of Covid-19 threat.

“Areas including Shahdra, Walled City, Harbanspura, Mazung, Cantt, Nishtar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Shahbagh will be sealed for two weeks from midnight tomorrow. All medical and dairy shops will remain open in these areas during the lockdown,” she added.

The health minister further said that decision to reopen these areas will be taken after analyzing and assessing the situation.

“Hundreds of cases had been recorded in each of these areas which is why decision to enforce a lockdown was taken,” she added.

Dr. Yasmin said that those criticizing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government should know that every other government in the world has failed.
