Budget 2020: Punjab sales tax expected to be slashed by 5 %
As Punjab Government is going to present the budget of Rs2.222 trillion today, the provincial sales tax is expected to be slashed by 5 percent for the majority of services.
Provincial Minister for Finance Hashim Jawan Bakhat will present the budget in the session of provincial assembly at a local hotel in Lahore at 2:00 P.M
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Finance Department in a statement has said that for the first time, the budget proposals have been prepared with the consultation of all stakeholders.
It is expected to offer tax relief to 23 sectors due to the coronavirus lockdown. Like the federal budget, the Punjab budget will also not increase the salaries of government employees.
The education and health sector are likely to get a good portion of the budget.
It will be a budget of Rs2.222 trillion with an expected total annual development outlay of Rs338.5 billion. The Punjab Sales Tax is expected to be slashed to 5% for the majority of services.
