Turkish dramas like Mera Sultan have been quite popular amongst masses in Pakistan, but the way Dirilis Ertugrul in Urdu dub has been praised by the viewers is outstanding. While it has attracted applaud and compliments from people of all walks for the grandeur – in which it presents the Islamic history or more specifically history of the Ottoman Empire – it also has stirred a debate about the cultural impact and possible effects of showing foreign content on the local industry. With names like Jibran Nasir, Yasir Hussain, and Mansha Pasha voicing their concerns, Dirilis Erygrul is now a hot topic for debate on Twitter.

And now actors like Osman Khalid Butt and Mehwish Hayat have jumped the bandwagon to defend PTV airing Dirilis: Ertugrul. Both actors took to Twitter to voice their opinions. In a series of tweets, Khalid Butt maintained that this isn't the first time Turkish content has been aired in Pakistan, it couldn't take away jobs from Pakistan's media fraternity back then and it won't now. Osman also praised the way Islamic history has been portrayed in the famous series.

Sitara e Imtiaz holder Pakistani actor Mehwish Hayat has shared her views on Ertugrul Gazi and the lead actor Engin Altan Düzyatan. In response to Yasir Hussain's comments, Hayat published a tweet saying that she can't understand what the fuss is about:

"I don’t know what the fuss is all abt? At the end of the day lets accept Dirilis #Ertugrul for what it is; an educational drama series that has historical significance & gr8 moral lessons. I think Engin Altan Düzyatan is pretty hot. A bit like Leonardo Di Caprio no?#crushupdated"

Honestly, can we blame her?

About his resemblance Leonardo Di Caprio, now that Mehwish has mentioned it, we sure can see some resemblance. And now that Düzyatan has mentioned that he'd like to come to Pakistan one day. We sure hope that the two get to meet each other.
