Pakistani actor and model Yashma Gill has revealed that her father did not speak to her for a year after she entered the entertainment industry.

Speaking during a private television channel’s Ramazan transmission, Gill said her father initially opposed her decision due to common societal perceptions about showbiz.

When she began acting, he expressed his displeasure by cutting off communication for nearly a year, she said.

Gill recalled that during the holy month of Ramazan, she greeted her father while walking downstairs one day, and he responded, marking the beginning of reconciliation between them.

She later sought his company as a mahram for her Umrah pilgrimage. During the journey, she said, her father observed the respect and admiration people showed her, which gradually changed his perception.

Following the pilgrimage, their relationship improved significantly and the father and daughter fully reconciled, she added.
