These five high budget movies were epic fail
WEB DESK: Making movies require months and even a year in most cases. The budget plays a vital role whatever the subject or story line is. Moreover, in many movies, they demand particular places or costumes and this make them a high budget film.Â
However, success of a film isn't determine by its budget and failure of heavy budgeted movie is often seen. Here is a list consist of those movies.
The Lone Ranger
Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer starrer The Lone Ranger had higher budget around $225 million. The fate was hard on them and there were many reasons caused its downfall. The production process was plagued and many people linked to project had to reduced their salaries by 20%. But nothing worked out and the flick performed poorly at box office. The critics labelled it as “a bloated misshapen mess†and “a jumbled botch.â€
R.I.P.D.
In the list, R.I.P.D. is included as well. It was a sci-fi and cost around Universal $130 million. Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds starrer failed to impress audience as it seemed as a comedy film than high-stakes, special effects-filled action. Also, Rotten Tomatoes terribly rate it 13%.
Jupiter Ascending
Another film made with high budget turned out a disaster. Jupiter Ascending had budget around $176 million. The cast included Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, and Eddie Redmayne. However, the critics were harsh on commenting and labelled as  incoherent and inane. The film barely made $181.9 and currently is at 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Evan Almighty
It was the most expensive comedy ever made. Evan Almighty was a heavy budgeted film and cost around $175 million. There were many reasons behind its failure including visual effects, filming multiple animals in a narrow location etc. According to Rolling Stone Magazine it was one of the worst movies of the year.
John Carter
The sci-fi of 2012, John Carter was over hyped and over budgeted film. Total $350 was invested in it. It was considered that it will be star-making vehicle for Kitsch. But, it failed in so many ways. Moreover, the film critics also tagged it as "jumbled".
