It might make them to love cooking or if not then helping in kitchen will surely arise affection in them. As they have this understanding that the food that is being cooked with their help, will be eaten together in a pleasant environment. Do not allow them near stove or letting them use knife at the beginning but you can always ask them to bring stuff from fridge to kitchen counter.
