ISLAMABAD: Khalid Latif, one of two Islamabad United players that were sent back home after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provisionally suspended them under its Anti-Corruption Code as part of an ongoing investigation in a spot-fixing scandal in PSL says, 'God knows that I am innocent'. 

After being sent home from Dubai, Latif has started consultations with lawyers for a legal course of action. He refused to give further comments in front of media persons. Latif said, "God knows that I have done nothing wrong and I am innocent".

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday suspended two players under its anti-corruption code as part of an ongoing investigation into an international syndicate which is allegedly trying to corrupt the ongoing ‘Pakistan Super League’.

According to the official statement issued by PCB, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have been suspended and a rigorous and wide ranging investigation by the PCB supported by the ICC will continue as part of collective efforts to protect the integrity of the sport.

Chairman PSL, Najam Sethi did not commented on the specifics of the case. However he clearly stated that this investigation is a clear demonstration of our determination to eradicate corruption out of our sport, adding this, no corrupt activity will be tolerated.

Sethi also said that PCB will not hesitate to take further decisive action as investigation proceeds.
