Minor signs but linked with major health issues

WEB DESK: In order to keep yourself save from any major health problems, you need to examine you body. A person should keep an eye on changes that occurred even if they are the slightest. Here are the nine symptoms that are very minor but can cause great damage to your health. If you experience any of these, consult to your physician immediately. 

Red line on finger nails

Finger nails tell a lot about a person's health. The red line on nails indicate health problems too. According to Thomas Knackstedt, dermatologist at Cleveland Clinic, this red line on one or even on multiple nails mean thinning of a nail. The red line on Multiple nails indicate inflammation of the root due to variety of condition, psoriasis or lichen planus. Also, if the line only on one nail it is linked with growth of different benign growth including a lipoma, wart or fibroma, adds Dr Knackstedt.

A stubborn pimple

If a person ever experience a pimple that just does not go away, do not ignore it. Because, according to a dermatologist at Skin Laser and Surgery Specialists, Bradley Bloom it becomes basal cell carcinoma, a very common form of skin cancer. Dry and Scaly patches

It could be eczema sometimes and can also be actinic keratoses, says Dr. Bloom, adding "these are the pre-cancerous lesions which occurred due to sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays that are often appeared as rough patches on skin at first". The areas affected by it are mainly face, bald scalp, back of the hands and lips. Moreover, Dr. Bloom, urges everyone to use SPF as much as they could especially before sun exposure to cure these patches before they turn into something very serious.

Change in beauty and freckle mark

It is obvious that freckles and beauty marks do change over the years but Dr. Knackstedt suggests by giving tips to check whether this change is dangerous or not. "The ABCDEs (Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color [multiple – brown, black, green, blue, red], Diameter [greater than ¼ in.] and (Evolution [change]) in order to help patients and doctors regarding diagnosis of something severe like melanoma skin cancer."

Dried and Chapped lips

Chapped and dried lips are again very common thing once the weather turns cold. Also, it is necessary to watch it out as constant chapped lips are actinic cheilitis, a pre-cancerous skin condition. "When such symptoms being noticed on early stage, this condition can be controlled with sun screen and sun protection", adds Dr. Knackstedt.

Thinning eye-brows hair

Natural hair loss with ageing is normal but Dr. Bloom do suggest to keep an eye on thinning of eye brows hair as this situation can be a sign of Hypothyrodism. He says, lab tests are necessary in this regard to figure out the reason and if the hair loss is resulting from thyroid, treatment of such condition is required.

Thickening of skin in body creases

The Acanthosis nigricans is order in which the folds of skin under neck, groin, and armpits start to thicken or darken and Dr. Bloom warned that such subtle change may be symptom of insulin resistance and you need to get check up done at earliest possible.

Cold sores

In U.S. over 60% of the population has herpes simplex virus, the reason behind cold sores. If the patients have lesions and large ulcer do not heal in several days, you need to refer to your doctor, says, Dr. Knackstedt.

White spots on nails

According to Knackstedt, the most common complain he hears that is white spot on nails. This is not something very serious but in some cases,further examination is necessary. Also, some patients may have broad and diffuse changes which as often described as paleness. In such cases, kidney disease, heart disease, protein or vitamin deficiencies that should be evaluated by your doctor, adds, Dr. Knackstedt.
