'Stalls in Sunday, Sastay bazaars being reserved for women'
Minister for Women Development Department Punjab Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that stalls are being reserved for women in Sunday and Sastay bazaars across the province under Women Package.
She was talking to a delegation of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry, led by its President Shazia Suleman, here on Thursday.
Punjab Minister said the government attached great importance to economic uplift, adding empowerment of women, for that purpose a number of steps had been taken. She said in addition to establishing business facilitation centres, Women Expo was also being arranged.
She stated that under interest-free loans, scheme of the government, more than 54 percent women had been provided loans so that they could stand on their own feet as well as support their families.
She said the basic purpose of setting up of Women Development Department was to safeguard the women's rights and ensure implementation of measures in this regard.
The Minister appreciated the cooperation of Women Chambers regarding setting up of stalls for women in Sastay and Sunday bazaars and research study to collect data of women vendors.
Other members of the delegation were Fakhra Hassan Senior Vice President, Dr Shehla Javed Akram Founder President, Qaisra Sheikh former president, Irum Shaheen, Rukhsana Khan, Ayesha Khuram, Falahat Imran and Mustafa Zaidi.
