LAHORE: The project of new underpass at the junction of Jinnah Hospital-Punjab University Campus alongwith a structure road, connecting Maulana Shaukat Ali Road to Wahdat road,would be completed by December 30.

LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed while talking to APP here said that the project would be completed according to the timeline given by the Punjab Government. He added that Punjab government will spent Rs 1.7 billion on this project with the aim to ease the traffic flow on Canal Road and adjoining roads.

This three lane underpass having a total length of 570 metres will ease the traffic flow for thousands of commuters coming daily from Motorway M-2 through Canal Road Thokar Niaz Baig to the Mall.

Additionally,3.8 Km long three lane road from Jinnah hospital-campus junction to Karim Block Market,Wahdat Road through the lands of Punjab University would also be completed by December 30, the chief engineer highlighted.

He said the contract for construction of the new road and underpass  was awarded to a joint venture AK and IKan group,while LDA will supervise the work.

LDA will acquire the land owned by the Punjab University to construct new a road.
