Chand raat is one of the liveliest nights in Karachi that people enjoy even more than the actual Eid day. The city of lights transform in to the most exuberant, jubilant and merry cities. Shopping centers and markets are over flowing with excited shoppers all making last minute purchases for Eid.

In fact, Karachites do not compromise on Eid celebrations in their traditional style and they do not bear anything get in their way.

When it comes to shopping for Eid, Chand raat is indeed the most sensational time to go for shopping even if it’s just window shopping. It is indeed a euphoric and heavenly night.

Just after Maghreb of 29^th Ramadan, people switch on their TV sets to follow the news of moon sighting and as soon as the night is confirmed as Chand raat, they rush to the streets  and markets to complete the remaining list of Eid preparations and feasts.

Women and girls move towards over crowded parlors to get their hands laden with mehendi in the late hours of the night for the awaited and felicitous occasion and  trust me if that’s not the case then you aren’t a Karachite lady.

Thus  if you want to experience the city of lights  with full colors and delights and enjoy the festivities then you just need to head out towards the main bazaars on chand raat because  if you haven’t seen Karachi on the eve of Eid, you are truly missing the actual lights of this “City Of Lights”
