Kidnappers kill child after receiving ransom: Lahore
LAHORE: Dead body of a child was recovered from the Barah Darri area of Lahore on Wednesday. Reports have indicated that the child was abducted one week ago.
The child identified as Umar Abbas studied in 9th grade and was the youngest of all his siblings. According to reports, Umar was kidnapped on 29th June 2012 and the kidnappers demanded Rs 7 million from his parents for his release.
Parents of Umar Abbas approached the Police after receiving the call and were later instructed by the police to pay the ransom money so that the police may try and catch the culprits.
After negotiations, an amount of Rs 1.2 million was agreed between the parents and the captors of the child.
Sources state that the parents of Umar Abbas paid the ransom amount to their child’s captors late on Tuesday. They were later informed by the kidnappers that their child would be set free within an hour but this turned out to be incorrect as the police recovered a dead body from the Barah Darri area on Wednesday which was later acknowledged to be of Umar Abbas.
Doctors at morgue later confirmed that Umar Abbas was choked to death and estimated the time of demise to be around Wednesday morning.
Parents of the child, after receiving the unfortunate news burst into tears and stated that they were instructed by the police to pay the ransom for the recovery of their child.
Police, in response to the incident stated that kidnapping incidents do carry such risks and they are trying their best to apprehend the culprits.
