"Money that I received related to Ice cream parlor's inauguration ceremony" - Salman Butt

LAHORE: Former Pakistani batsman, Salman Butt, has denied all the spot fixing charges and has stated that he was unaware as to who conspired against him.

Salman Butt addressed a press conference on Friday and showed Mazhar Majeed's messages sent over to him through cell phone.

While talking about the marked notes received from his room Butt said that the 4,500 pounds belonged to him off which 2,500 pounds pertained to the opening ceremony of "Tooting" Ice cream parlor which Butt was supposed to inaugurate on Aug 30. Butt said that 2,500 pounds was the advance payment, given to him by his agent and Mazhar Majeed.

Butt also added that he was unaware that Majeed had given him the marked notes, the money belonged to him (Butt) and he got it back upon his release from prison. He also said that he had the receipt of all the money with him.

Salman Butt reiterated that he was innocent and that all the evidence was in favor of him, rather he was convicted and did not get proper justice.

Butt urged the Supreme Court to hold an open trial in Pakistan and said that he was confident that he would come out clean from the case. “I had to make a sacrifice because I didn’t take anyone’s name, it didn’t suit me. It’s not about me or anyone else, it’s about Pakistan. I would like Pakistani courts, the Supreme Court, to hold an open trial and I am sure they will clear me," stated the former Pakistani captain.

"I have no interference in bowling the no-ball, neither did i influence it in any way," said Salman.

Talking about his trial, Butt stated that Mazhar Majeed and Mohammad Aamir were not called upon during his trial. "Moreover, the Jury was also not informed about Majeed and Aamir’s confession," added Butt

Butt said that he would travel to Switzerland to challenge the 5 year ban imposed on him.

He further urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to review his documents and conduct a fair trial within Pakistan.
