Labor Wages to be raised; declares Gilani

ISLAMABAD: While addressing a Labor Day ceremony within Islamabad, Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that the Labor wage rate would be increased from Rs. 7000 to Rs. 8000.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday and the Prime Minister also announced that the pension from the Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) was to be raised from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2000.

A regularization announcement was also made by the PM with respect to the employees of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and PTCL.

The PM was full of praise for the Laborers and added that the global enhancement within the industrial and global sector was not possible without the laborers and the farmers.

He further told that the day was remembered and celebrated worldwide to pay homage to the workers and laborers of Chicago for the sacrifices they rendered for attainment of their rights.

He stated that his party was fully aware of the efforts and the hard work of farmers and laborers within the country; and their party has been working in order to bring positive changes within their lives.

"Our Shaheed leaders, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, considered laborers, farmers and workers as priceless assets of the party. Shaheed Bhutto initiated the PPP on the slogan of welfare of the neglected sections of society and for the sake of carving out a respectable place for them in the social setup," he stated.

He further added that the success of any nation lies within the hard and diligent work of its human resources and any nation that does not care for its working class is bound to fall back.
