Fake degree: DI. Khan MPA jailed for a year

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Member of provincial Assembly khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kishore Kumar was sent to jail for a year and fined Rs. 15000 in the fake degree case, Monday.

Kishore Kumar was elected MPA since 2008 and the member of Jaimat e Ulama Islam-F.

The Session judge DI.Khan Shahjahan announced the verdict which was reserved earlier on November 26th, 2010.

The writ petition is filed by a member of a minority community, Rajinder Kumar, stating that Kishore Kumar got elected on the reserved seats on the ticket of old Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal which is now Jaimat e Ulama Islam-F.

The petitioner stated that the graduation certificate of Kishore Kumar, who was elected on seats reserved for minorities, was fake and thus he did not qualify for the contest of general elections in 2008.

Advocate Habib Qureshi appeared for the petitioner and contended that the MPA Kumar was not a graduate, a precondition for contesting the 2008 general elections.

He contended that the MPA had produced a provisional certificate of graduation from the Gomal University, D.I. Khan in 1999.

Earlier, The Peshawar High Court directed the vice chancellor of Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, to produce the relevant educational record of an MPA of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kishore Kumar, who was elected on seats reserved for minorities.
