RIM denies Haqqani's request; says records unavailable
Cell phone giants, Research In Motion (RIM) a company that also produces BlackBerry mobile phones, have replied to ex-ambassador, Hussain Haqqani's request for retrieving his BlackBerry records.
RIM responded to Haqqani's request in a negative, stating that the data required by Mr Haqqani is no longer available to the company. RIM has a policy stating that the retention period for phone records is 3 months. “The time periods are beyond the data retention period for the services offered by RIM.â€
Haqqani requested the records of his phone conversations from May till October 2011. He allegedly exchanged controversial text messages regarding Pakistani military and government with the Mansoor Ijaz who is a businessman from US.
The request was filed on the orders of judicial commission probing the Memogate scandal.
