RIM denies Haqqani's request; says records unavailable

Cell phone giants, Research In Motion (RIM) a company that also produces BlackBerry mobile phones, have replied to ex-ambassador, Hussain Haqqani's request for retrieving his BlackBerry records.

RIM responded to Haqqani's request in a negative, stating that the data required by Mr Haqqani is no longer available to the company. RIM has a policy stating that the retention period for phone records is 3 months. “The time periods are beyond the data retention period for the services offered by RIM.”

Haqqani requested the records of his phone conversations from May till October 2011. He allegedly exchanged controversial text messages regarding Pakistani military and government with the Mansoor Ijaz who is a businessman from US.

The request was filed on the orders of judicial commission probing the Memogate scandal.
