Sharapova cruises into Miami semi-finals
Maria Sharapova came from a set down to beat her fellow former world number one Caroline Wozniacki and book her place in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami this morning.
The second-seeded Russian claimed a 4-6 6-2 6-4 victory in just more than two and a half hours in a match which featured 10 breaks of serve.
Fourth-seed Wozniacki started the stronger, punishing her opponent's second serve as she broke three times to take the first set.
However, the Dane barely got a look in in the second as Sharapova raised her game, making 92% of first serves as two breaks handed her the set in convincing fashion.
The former Wimbledon champion broke twice more in the decider to take victory.
In the quarter-finals of the men's draw, Argentina's Juan Monaco made short work of home favourite Mardy Fish with a 6-1 6-3 win.
The 21st seed upset his eighth-seeded opponent, breaking five times as he claimed victory in one hour 22 minutes.
