Man Utd’s Mason Mount to miss ‘several weeks’ after injury
Manchester United forward Mason Mount is facing a spell of several weeks on the sidelines due to a leg injury. The injury occurred just 14 minutes into Manchester United’s derby victory against Manchester City on Sunday, December 15th, 2024.
Mount himself confirmed the news via an Instagram post, expressing his devastation at the setback. He stated that he knew the severity of the injury immediately upon sustaining it.
This latest injury is a significant blow for the 25-year-old England international, who has endured a frustrating time since his move from Chelsea to Manchester United in July 2023.
He’s made only nine Premier League starts for United this season and only four this season before the injury. Last season, he missed five months due to thigh and calf injuries, and he’s already spent two months out this season due to hamstring and head injuries.
Manchester United’s manager, Amorim, acknowledged the length of Mount’s expected absence, stating it would be “long,” although he didn’t give a specific timeframe. When questioned about whether Mount is injury-prone, Amorim deflected the question, stating it wasn’t his area of expertise.
However, he emphasized his commitment to supporting Mount through his recovery, offering help to aid his rehabilitation and to help him mentally adjust during his time out.
Mount himself vowed to work hard and maintain a positive attitude during his recovery period. He expressed his commitment to his new club and assured fans of his dedication, despite the challenges he’s faced.
