Rights of women discussed by NGOs in Sindh
Ghazi Social Welfare Association, with the support of the South Asia Partnership –Pakistan (SAPPK) met Women Protection Forum to discuss women rights in Larkana. Oxfam’s representative was also present.
Other than rights of women, issues discussed were safety, awareness of women rights and how to improve the monitoring and observance of women rights in Pakistan. Furthermore, it was said that special consideration and care should be given to women who are victims of violence, and should be given protection by the law enforcement agencies. The conditions of women in jails and police custody were also highlighted and mental health was also emphasised, suggesting they be given professional psychological counseling.
The participants, paying especial attention to the conditions in Sindh, appealed to the Government of Sindh, Government of Pakistan and also the non-government organizations operation to pay attention and works towards the elimination of mistreatment of women and the betterment of women and their lives.
President Ghazi Social Welfare thanked all the participants and guests promised to continue with his efforts to get women their rights and a better life in the society.
