Police stops Ahmadis from practicing religion; “for their own security”

After succumbing to the pressurizing demands of Satellite Town's locals, the police has decided to impede the arrival of Ahmadis to their place of worship in Rawalpindi, a local news channel reported today.

According to sources a meeting was held among the people of Satellite Town, DCO Saqib Zafar, Superintendent Matlub Husain and various Ulemas and officials. In this meeting, it was decided that the Worship place will be shut down and will only be used as a residence. The religious clerics warned that upon failure to meet these demands they will launch a protest.

As Friday prayers approached, the local people and business owners arranged the prayers outside the Ahmadi worship place in case the agreement is not fulfilled.

After this warning the Police in a rather proactive manner; barred the worship area in order to avoid any kind of confrontation resulting in violence or bloodshed. People present inside the building were constrained while keeping the ones outside, away from it.

This incident is in light of the protest of held last Friday outside the same worship place, demanding the removal of barricades and CCTV cameras from the premises. The protest was organised by Jihadi organisations alleging that the worship center is against the Laws of the country and the laws of Islam.
