JI to protest across Pakistan today against electricity prices, IPPs

The party's sit-in in Rawalpindi has been postponed

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will hold a sit-in today to protest against high electricity prices and Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Protests will take place nationwide.

JI has also announced that it will hold a nationwide absentee funeral prayer for Hassan Nasrallah, the deceased leader of Hezbollah.

In a statement, JI Ameer Hafiz Naeem said that today, Sunday, JI will hold sit-ins on major highways across the country to protest against high electricity prices and IPPs. The sit-ins will conclude with an absentee funeral prayer for Hassan Nasrallah.

He urged people worldwide to raise their voices against the illegitimate Zionist state of Israel and to show solidarity with the resistance forces in Lebanon and Palestine.

Rawalpindi protest postponed

Separately, Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed a sit-in planned for today in Rawalpindi.

JI had called for a sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Chowk on Murree Road on September 29th. The sit-in was postponed due to concerns about road closures and potential disruption to public order.

The information secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Rawalpindi stated that the sit-in will now be held next Friday.
