Ijaz's testimony via video link continues

The Judicial Commission, probing the Memo Issue will continue recording testimony of Mansoor Ijaz via video link at Pakistan High Commission in London till Friday.

Mansoor told the commission that he has recorded the main part of his testimony with regard to the origin and authenticity of the memo.

The commission headed by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa and comprising Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman and Sindh High Court Chief Justice Musheer Alam, conducted the proceedings of the memo issue at Islamabad High Court on Thursday.

During the proceedings, Ijaz also produced e-mails regarding the correspondence with Research in Motions Company (RIM) about the waiving of privacy right for retrieving data of Black Berry messages along with the copies of his telephone bill.

Attorney General for Pakistan, Molvi Anwarul Haq apprised the commission that Ijaz has to prove about electronic evidences which he is producing before the commission under the Law of Evidence.

Justice Faez Issa remarked that after the completion of testimony the other parties could also examine Mansoor. The commission also heard petitions regarding Zahid Bukhari's going abroad for cross examination, forensic tests of evidences produced by Mansoor.

The commission disposed of Bokhari's application about forensic test of evidences before the procedure of cross examination of Bokhari by saying that such stage has not yet come, because neither the examination chief of Mansoor Ijaz has concluded his testimony nor cross examination has started yet. So forensic examination of evidences at this stage is premature.

However, the Commission remarked that Bokhari can go abroad for cross examination of Mansoor's testimony. It may be mentioned that Haqqani's counsel had requested the Commission to put the evidence provided by Mansoor Ijaz through forensic examination and to cross examine him in London.
