Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will visit Russia next week for talks to promote bilateral relations.

Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit while speaking in Radio Pakistan's programme Naey Ufaq said that Pakistan is actively engaged with other countries diplomatically with respect to emerging situation in Afghanistan.

He said Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will visit Russia next week for talks on bilateral relations and regional situation.

The spokesman said Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani would also visit Qatar from Monday to have discussions with its leadership.

He said on-going process of reconciliation in Afghanistan will come under discussion during Prime Minister Gilani's visit to Qatar.

Replying to questions he said during her recent visit to Kabul, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar had exchanged views with Afghan leadership to strengthen the process of reconciliation and dialogue.

He said Pakistan wants a peaceful Afghanistan after the withdrawal of coalition forces.

The spokesman said the Foreign Minister also conveyed to Afghan leadership that blame game would benefit only those forces that do not want peace in Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan and is ready for every possible help to the Kabul government for ensure peace in the region.

He said visit of Hina Rabbani Khar will have great importance in the Pak-Afghan relations.

The spokesman said Pakistan has opened all channels and pursuing every possible way for peace in Afghanistan as it is also in Pakistan's interest.

Replying to a question about Pakistan's role in the ongoing Afghan peace efforts, he said external forces may help Afghan people to some extent to bring peace, but the main party is Afghan people and leaders themselves, who will decide as to what they want to see in their country, reconciliation and prosperity through stable government.

He said Pakistan has always followed the policy to support Afghan owned and Afghan led reconciliation process.

Basit said Pakistan has decided in principle that it will never interfere in Afghan internal affairs. Replying to a question about Qatar talks, Abdul Basit said that America and Taliban are reportedly holding talks in Qatar and Pakistan is being informed about the talks through diplomatic sources.

He said Pak-US cooperation regarding terrorism and on the issue of Afghanistan is in standstill position and until parliament prepares policy directions, the engagement with the US will not be restored.
