Snow severs land links of Toba Kakari
Land links of Toba Achakzai, a remote area of district Qila Abdullah has been disconnected since Saturday due to heavy snowfall in mountainous areas of the district, officials and locals said Tuesday.
Rains and snowfall lashed northern parts of the province on Saturday and Quetta, Kalat, Mastung, Ziarat, Kann Mehtarzai and some other parts of Qila Abdullah district experienced heavy snowfall in four years.
On Tuesday, another spell of snow and rain hit parts of Balochistan including the provincial capital. Heavy snowfall at Lakpass, Kozhak Top and Kann Mehtarzai blocked three main highways of Balochistan severing land links of Quetta with Qila Abdullah, Zhob and Baloch belt of the province.
At the Kozhak Top traffic playing between the border town of Chaman and the provincial capital was blocked due to snowfall.
Ahmad Ali Siddiqi, Assistant Commissioner Qila Abdullah said that a number of levies officials and heavy machinery have been sent to the area to clear the highway for traffic.
However, commuters and drivers of the vehicles were seen managing traffic and clearing road on self-help basis.
