A bus carrying a wedding party fell into River Sindh near here early Monday while passing on a temporary bridge connecting town Chachran Sharif with Kot Mithan.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, 31 people out of a total 42 managed to save their lives as they jumped out of the bus before it fell into the river. Three bodies,including two minors, were recovered from the site of tragedy while six others were still missing. The identification of the bodies was yet to be completed.

Rescue sources said the planks of this temporary bridge collapsed one after the other and the bus bound for Layyah from Karachi fell into river sindh.

Locals while talking to this scribe said some of those who managed to save their lives said they were going to Fatehpur near Layyah to attend a marriage ceremony. Some of them received minor injuries and were sent to DHQ hospital Rajanpur.

Rescue operation and search for more bodies was ongoing, police sources said.
