No military courts in democracy: PM
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at Prime Minister House and discussed the current political situation in the country. The Minister appreciated the speech of the Prime Minister that he delivered at the floor of the National Assembly the other day wherein he rejected the idea of head of PML-N regarding setting up military courts in Karachi. The Prime Minister said that the talk of military courts was not in consonance with democratic norms when the judiciary was working independently as an integral component of the democratic system.
The Prime Minister said in the past, the judiciary had already declared the military courts null and void and against the Constitution. “I was in a state of disbelief when I came to know of this assertion,†he added.
Earlier, Anwar Saifullah Khan, MPA, also met the Prime Minister and discussed with him issues relating to Labour Colony for which his family had donated a large chunk of land.
