Political stability vital for country’s development: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that political stability and strong parliament were vital to put an end to the game of musical chairs in the country. The Prime Minister was addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of expansion of four road schemes worth Rs 362.984 million, and a fly-over worth Rs 450 million at Tataypur village, some 30 kilometres off here.He said that history was a testimony that it was always the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that struggled hard against the dictators and replaced dictatorial regimes by democratic set-up in the country. He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave constitution to the country and the incumbent government restored it to its original form.

He said that the credit to restore constitution in accordance with its original spirit went to the PPP. Other governments failed to achieve the objective despite having two-thirds majority, Gilani said.
Prime Minister Gilani said that this constituency (NA-148) was the stronghold of PPP. Some politicians left their constituency under the garb of revolution, he said. Quoting a saying: “Old wine in new bottle”, PM questioned, how can they bring about revolution?
The Prime Minister added that real revolution was brought about by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who gave right of vote to every individual, gave them self-respect and courage to speak for their rights.
