Federation becomes stronger after 18th amend: Asfandyar

President of the Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan Saturday said that the passage of 18th amendment and NFC Award has made the federation of Pakistan more stronger than ever before as all the powers withdrawn were returned back to the parliament one by one by President Asif Ali Zardari.

The federating units have been given rights over their resources, said the President of ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan while addressing a big public meeting here at College Ground.

The concurrent list has been abolished from the constitution for the first time empowering the provinces to have full power over their God gifted natural resources, he told the crowd amid applause.

There was no danger to the present democratically elected government as the sitting parliament and the government would complete its constitutional period and election would be held according to schedule.

The democratic process would further gained strength after holding of the next general elections.

He said that the government would complete its tenure and there was no ban on the wishes of the people.

About the new terms used nowadays in political fields i.e. Tsunami, Asfandyar Wali Khan said, the next general elections would expose the myth of the tsunami, saying it has no future in the country's politics. It will die down with the passage of time, he explained.

The ANP leader said he was ready to hold talks with the Taliban leaders like Maulana Fazlullah and Sufi Muhammad if they ready to withdraw violence, accepted the writ of the government and ensured that our soil was not being used for terrorist activities.

He said Karachi cannot be discussed sans Pukhtoons as they like other entities were a reality there.

"We do not want any confrontation there but at no cost we will allow anyone to deprive them of their due rights".
