The fun, loveable and tiny Smurfs are painting the town blue as they kick off “Smurfs Week” in New York City.

The Smurfs are coming at you in 3D!  This time the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, so they have to tumble from their magical little world into ours.

Reportedly, the release date of The Smurfs has been changed three times and it is currently scheduled to be released on July 29, 2011.

Starring Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris and Sofia Vergara, with voiceovers by Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming and Katy Perry, the Smurfs is directed by Raja Gosnell with writers Peyo, J David Stem, David N Weiss, David Ronn and Jay Scherick.

Attending the star-studded New York City premiere for The Smurfs in 3D at the Ziegfeld Theater on 24 July 2011 were Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Hank Azaria and his son Hal, Sofia Vergara, Jayma Mays, Olivia Palermo and Kimberley Locke.
