Hudson Meek, the young actor celebrated for his role in the 2017 film ‘Baby Driver,’ has passed away at the age of 16, according to media reports.

Authorities confirmed that he was pronounced dead on December 21 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner, Meek succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained two days prior when he fell from a moving vehicle. The coroner’s report indicated that the circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation by the Vestavia Hills Police Department, which is looking into the incident that took place in the Birmingham suburb where Meek resided.

On Sunday, a post on Meek’s Instagram account announced his passing but did not provide further details regarding the tragic event.

In a heartfelt message, Meek’s family announced, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

A memorial service for the young actor is set to be held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, on Saturday, December 28. The service will also be available for livestream, as detailed in a follow-up social media post and an obituary.

The obituary described Meek as “reflective and thoughtful,” yet “tenacious when he set his mind to something.”

It highlighted his unique personality, noting that he was confident, passionate about his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted. He had a knack for humor, often spinning funny tales and engaging in friendly banter. A true prankster at heart, Meek found joy in making others laugh.
