Young doctors’ strike enters 34th day

The strike of Punjab's Young Doctors Association (YDA) entered the 34th day on Sunday, as Punjab's government refused to increase their salaries.

Punjab’s junior doctors stopped attending patients in emergency wards and labour rooms in government-run hospitals in the province.

On the other hand, all arrangements have been finalized for appointment of new doctors. The notification of newly appointed doctors said the recruited doctors would have no right to strike under any circumstances.

On the call of Young Doctors Association Punjab, the strike of doctors started from March 1 due to which the outdoor and indoor facilities for patients had been suspended. The outdoor units of hospitals are closed now.

They boycotted the out patients departments. The doctors who are pressing for an increment in their salaries rally and chant slogans in front of the administration block.
