Targeted killing claims 7 lives in Karachi

At least five people have been killed in riots in some parts of Karachi after killing of two senior leaders of different political parties on Monday.

Adil Jafri, the MQM joint sector in-charge of Gulbahar area was shot dead in Nazimabad on Monday by unknown assailants.

Killing of a Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM's) senior leader Adil Akhtar sparked violence in the port city of Karachi.

At least six people were gunned down in separate incidents of targeted killing and violence in different areas of the metropolis.

After the killing of MQM's senior leader, a man shot dead near Aladin Park. Another incident of target killing took place in Korangi Zaman Town, where unknown gunmen, riding on a motorbike opened fire on a shop, killing one.

Aziz Khan and Tariq were killed in firing incident in the remits of Al-Falah Police Station on Malir road. Awami National Party (ANP) claimed that Aziz Khan was the vice President of ANP Al-Falah Ward.

Minutes later, unknown pillion riders opened fire on a bus in Shaheed-e-Millat road, killing one.

Many petrol pump owners decided to shut down their business voluntarily fearing more violence.

MQM called on the government to take notice of the targeted killing of another of their senior worker.

Patrolling by the Police and Rangers have been increased in the troubled areas after miscreants set on fire some shops, banks and transports.
