Mehdi Hassan loses his memory

Legendary ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan has lost his memory owing to prolonged illness.

Mehdi Hassan, King of Ghazal, life is oscillating between desperation and hope.

Sometimes he feels well and occasionally doctors pronounce his condition as critical., who once enthralled the entire world through his melodious voice

The ailing singer Hassan, was admitted to Sir Agha Khan Hospital (SAKH) in Karachi after the media raised the issue of his disease.

Sajjad Mehdi, son of Mehdi Hassan, has appealed the fans to pray for his early recovery.

Mehdi Hassan had been confined to bed and he had lost maximum part of his memory and could not speak fluently but his shadow was a blessing for the family, the son said.

Mehdi Hassan Khan was born in 1927 in a village of Luna, Rajasthan, India. After partition the family migrated to Pakistan and suffered severe financial hardships.

He started singing in 1957 with Radio Pakistan and in a short span of time he proved himself a trendsetter in the world of singing.

He also had a passion for Urdu poetry and began to experiment by singing ghazals on a part-time basis.
