Blast in DAK mosque kills 67
At least 67 people were killed and several injured in a blast inside a mosque in Dara Adam Khel (DAK) on Friday.
The bomb blast struck in Akhurwall village in area of Darra Adam Khel. The explosion occurred in a mosque during Friday Prayer, killing 67 people. There were more than 100 people inside the mosque.
The roof of its main hall collapsed after the blast. Several people are buried under the debris.
Acting Commissioner Shahidullah told Aaj News that 50 people were killed and more than 80 injured in the blast.
The dead toll may rise as the rescues operation is in progress. The
injured are rushed to main hospitals of Kohat and Peshawar where emergency has been declared.
Security forces cordoned off the area. Injured have been shifted to hospitals.
Tehreek-e-Taliban has claimed the responsibility of the blast.
Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain called the militants "beasts" that are lashing out at Pakistan's crackdown against them.
"This is part of international terrorism. America, Pakistan and Afghanistan are the main players, who need to work closely and more aggressively to root out this menace," said Hussain.
