SC allows Khosa to defend Govt

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has allowed the government to change its lawyer.

The Hearing of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation and its review cases adjourned till Thursday.

A 17-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard NRO cases.

Supreme Court has allowed former attorney general Latif Khosa to plead NRO case. Summary of Adnan Khawaja's appointment also been asked.

During the hearing, additional prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested the SC for more time in the NRO cases.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said that convicted people are working in Government posts. The CJP said that the NRO beneficiaries have been appointed Ministers.

Justice Raja asked who was destroying the bureaucracy. While Justice Javed sought details of Adnan Khawaja’s pay package. Justice Javed told Khosa to read the NRO verdict carefully.

Latif Khosa told that the Government had appointed him as Federal Counsel in place of Kamal Azfar. He said, Law Ministry had issued an authority letter for his appointment as such.
