An anti-terrorism court (ATC) heard the Mustafa Amir murder case in Karachi’s central jail on Saturday, with jail authorities producing prime suspect Armaghan and co-accused Shiraz before the court.

The court accepted the prosecution’s request to club all cases currently pending against Armaghan.

However, it rejected a request to remove the anti-terrorism provisions from the cases and transfer the case to the sessions court.

During the hearing, the prosecutor argued that Armaghan had been using delaying tactics in the proceedings and requested that all cases against him be heard together.

Defence lawyer Javed Mir Sheikh advocate said the defence had no objection to the cases being consolidated but requested that the proceedings be conducted strictly in accordance with the law.

Several serious cases, including murder, alleged police encounter and attempted murder, have been registered against Armaghan at Darakhshan police station.

Mustafa Amir was allegedly murdered about a year and a half ago, after which his body was reportedly set on fire. The case is currently being heard by the ATC.
