Pakistan Railways has announced the restoration of two passenger trains that were suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic, with services set to resume later this month.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, who said the decision was taken in response to strong public demand and in the interest of Pakistan Railways.

According to a railway spokesperson, the Babu Passenger train, operating between Lahore and Lala Musa, will resume service on August 20.

Meanwhile, the Sandal Express, which runs from Multan to Sargodha via Jhang, will return to service on August 21.

Both trains had remained suspended since the Covid-19 outbreak.

Speaking on the occasion, Abbasi said more suspended train services would be restored during the current year.

He said the government would continue expanding travel facilities in line with the prime minister’s vision and take further steps to improve convenience for passengers.
