At least six people were killed and six others, including women and children, were injured as torrential monsoon rains triggered roof collapses, flash floods and landslides across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Wednesday.

According to authorities, heavy rainfall caused the roofs and walls of houses to collapse, while flash floods damaged at least 65 homes in different parts of the province.

The rain-related incidents were reported in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Khyber, Lower Chitral, Lower Dir, Mansehra, Mardan, Shangla, Swabi, Upper Dir and Upper Kohistan.

Rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected areas.

Heavy downpours also caused streams and seasonal waterways to overflow in many districts, while intermittent rainfall continued across the plains and mountainous regions, including Malakand and Hazara divisions.

Authorities said work is underway to reopen roads blocked by landslides in hilly areas.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast intermittent rain over the next 24 hours and advised tourists and residents to avoid unnecessary travel due to the risk of flash floods, landslides and other rain-related hazards.
