Mild earthquake tremors were felt across several parts of Karachi on Friday evening, triggering panic among residents and prompting many to rush out of their homes and offices.
The tremors were felt in Shah Latif Town, Bhains Colony, Bin Qasim, Gadap Town, Landhi and adjoining areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake was recorded at 6:00pm. It measured 2.9 on Richter scale, with a depth of 10 kilometres and its epicentre within Karachi.
The quake’s coordinates were recorded at 24.80 degrees north latitude and 67.01 degrees east longitude.
No loss of life or property has been reported so far, according to initial reports.
