Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing coordination on regional security during a meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visiting Kuwaiti foreign minister, accompanied by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Abdul Rahman J. Al-Mutairi, called on the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation and measures to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Sheikh Jarrah appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support, its constructive contribution towards regional peace and stability, and the deep-rooted fraternal ties shared by the two countries.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Kuwait and stressed that both countries shared a common vision for regional peace, stability and prosperity.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue cooperation with Kuwait at all levels, underscoring the importance Islamabad attaches to its longstanding partnership with the Gulf nation.
Separately, Kuwaiti foreign minister held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs and workforce development.
During the meeting, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s full solidarity with Kuwait and its leadership, strongly condemned attacks on Kuwait and other brotherly Gulf states during the ongoing regional conflict, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s role as an honest and sincere mediator working to promote regional peace.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister also praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to restore regional stability, particularly acknowledging the contributions of PM Shehbaz, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The high-level engagements highlighted the shared commitment of Pakistan and Kuwait to maintaining close coordination on regional issues while further deepening their longstanding strategic and bilateral partnership.
